Thanks to the 3 C's

Last Thursday (15th September) saw the great and the good of The Angela Mortimer Group gather alongside clients, candidates and employees, both past and present to acknowledge the fortieth year of AM. The setting was the beautiful LAPADA Arts & Antiques fair, and more specifically the brasserie within their marquee, which is annually assembled on the equally impressive setting of Berkeley Square, Mayfair.

As the room filled with attendants, enjoying jazz, canapés and a glass or two of Lanson Champagne, Group CEO John Mortimer took to the stage to introduce the serious proceedings. He opened by admitting to being the founder member of the Dennis Thatcher fan club, acknowledging his role within the company had always been to support a significant number of strong, high powered women, none more so than Angela Mortimer herself, whom he invited to talk to her audience.

Angela began with a few hellos to those who’d made the trip over from the New York, Hong Kong, Brussels and Paris offices before thanking the ‘past’ consultants who were present, insisting they must be referred to as ‘past’ consultants as opposed to ‘old’ consultants. Angela went on to explain that one of the hardest things for an entrepreneur was to let go of responsibilities within their own company. That said, she recognised how incredibly fortunate she had been for such a long time, to be able to rely on the team around her, to always work tirelessly towards keeping the reputation of the company safe.

Ex Employees Philippa Hazlitt and Lord James Younger were invited to the stage by Angela, both offering an anecdote or two on their time with AM. Philippa, placed as a teenager in her first job by Angela with McKinsey, ended up joining AM as a Divisional Leader in 2001 before yo-yo-ing back to McKinsey in New York. In comparison Lord Younger, an ex consultant with a 32 year association with the company who ended up marrying one of the clients!

Lord Younger commented in his speech that his wife Jennie had had three staff placed within her company and felt the AM website was in need of an update… He implied that the success rate of 1 in 2 quoted on the front page was in fact incorrect and should be replaced with 1 in 1, as each one of the three placements Jennie had received from AM turned out to be tremendous successes.

John Mortimer re took to the stage to round off, humbly deflecting praise from both Angela and himself before alerting attention to the ‘real heroes’ of Angela Mortimer.

First John drew attention to the Candidates and temps that have represented Angela Mortimer on a daily basis in the offices of London and now the Rest of the World, never failing to uphold the levels of quality asked of them.

Secondly the Clients, for giving AM the opportunity to attain that 1 in 2 success rate previously mentioned. ‘The level of trust required for this to be achieved is extraordinary’.

And finally, the Consultants who worked in the offices over forty years. Concluding that he and others that frequented the offices never failed to comment on the sense of commitment to service that can always be felt within those rooms.

Thanks to the 3 C’s. The ‘real heroes’ of Angela Mortimer.
