blue book 2015

Now in its 11th year, our market-leading annual employment survey reports on salaries, benefits and the comparison of attitudes between employers and employees. This year 581 organisations and 836 candidates contributed to the research for the blue book in the first quarter of 2015.

The blue book 2015 identifies the biggest challenges to recruitment and retention for the year and takes a closer look at the successful strategies that progressive companies are adopting to build the optimum workforce to steer their businesses through the coming years.

"Most recruiters agree we have now entered a candidate-driven market, as predicted in the blue book 2014…whilst organisations have confidence in the return to growth, recruitment is now considered more challenging as it becomes increasingly difficult to retain, identify, and secure the best candidates."

Covering salaries, benefits, discussions about the current job market and the differences in thinking between jobseekers and employers, the blue book is an invaluable guide to recruitment across the UK (London, Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham) and Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and New York.

Key findings of 2015 include:

  • 70% of candidates say that speed to hire and lack of feedback have caused most frustration in the past; a majority of candidates are now reporting an improving experience of this process
  • 53% of organisations believe a good working environment makes for an attractive employer, and a further 65% believe they deliver on that promise
  • A majority of both candidates and organisations agree that lack of career progression and career change are the top reasons why people leave

Recruiters, Managing Directors, and HR Managers representing a full range of sectors and organisations types took part. These included start-ups, major banks, finance, insurance, accountancy and legal firms, large media, marketing and digital companies, HR, property, universities, hospitals, IT providers, charities and luxury brands.
